I was born in Peru, I grew up surrounded by art as my mother was a multi visual artist. My childhood was full of beautiful books with magical stories and the stories told by the nannies who lived in the Andes.
I received my Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the Universidad del Pacifico in Lima, Peru. As CEO and Co-Founder with my father, of Blue & Green International I traveled around the world where I represented my company in Commercial Missions. During my travels I learnt from different cultures and I studied art techniques. I learnt Suminagashi and Wood Block Printing from Japan.
My business company got awarded by Best Company of the Year 2003 and Best Company of the year 2004 by The America Awards. I also have the title of Master in Entrepreneur certify by Best Peruvian Company Award.
I have learnt the secrets of weaving and natural dying techniques from Peruvian artisans and I like to continue searching and learning about these art techniques as I don't want this knowledge to be forgotten.
After getting married, I changed my passion for business to my passion for teaching. I had the opportunity to teach children. I chose to teach as I believe this is my time to give back and I always loved children. This is the reason I moved from being a commercial manager to a teaching artist. I have been teaching now for more than 12 years.
My art is deeply related to my beliefs that we are surrounded by spirits of nature. These spirits are powerful and they can change and adapt. I consider to be also a collector, I love collecting leaves, flowers and also capturing that special moment in the second I get a shot with my camera.
One of my main goals in these challenging times, is to bring awareness of the excessive waste that we have in our planet. I do believe it is important for my students to understand that our planet needs their help and that they have a responsibility on preserving nature for theirs and next generations. I do need them to understand also that they can express their ideas about this topic through art.
When I am creating my art, I love to feel the elements of nature and my Peruvian roots also call me to the land and to give thanks to Mother Earth as we call it, The Pachamama, without this acknowledge and recognition I cannot grow as a human being.
What I love the most now is teaching and I say to myself, I might not be a kid anymore but when I am with my students, they allowed me to be one with them and I simply love it!. I believe I learn from them so much and I want to empower them to believe that they can reach their full potential.
I like to explore different mediums and it amazes me how you can connect with them and enjoy the process of creating.
At this time, I love to work with pigments and marbling paper techniques. I love to connect with the images that I create in the water that sometimes are still and sometimes are uncontrollable. I also like to create 3D paper masks of African Animals. I do elaborate textiles dyes especially from Peruvian cochineal.
Nature is my inspiration. I love drawing animals but what I love the most it to observe animal behavior. My favorite time of the day is when the sun comes, at dawn, I love the violet gray colors announcing the imminent light of the sun. The early bird songs, once shy turn into an orchestra of good morning. Unfortunately, our wildlife is decreasing and we need to do something about it to protect them.
